A Letter from Dr. Geoffrey Grimes

Hello, everybody!

Welcome to Eng 385. I am delighted that you have chosen Northwood University for continuing your undergraduate studies. We never take it for granted that you have selected Northwood University in a community with many fine options for higher education.

As we begin this course, I am entering my 38th year of college teaching, a career that has taken me from Texas Tech University where I earned my Masters and Ph.D. in English to Mountain View College of the Dallas County Community College District where I have taught full time since 1971.

As a former student and graduate of Austin College in Sherman, Texas, I am sensitive to the role of the small private college in higher education. I am especially impressed with Northwood University's unique vision and service through the University College to mature students in the greater Dallas area.  These factors are instrumental and influential in student success in every course at Northwood University.

I hope you enjoy this course as much as you will grow in your knowledge and experience of some of the greatest literature ever written, and I look forward to assisting you in any and every way possible.

Geoffrey Grimes
 Professor of English
