.
Writers from various ethnic groups find full voices beginning in the 1970's, following the crest of the volatile 1960's.  If African-Americans could find expression in the grips of segregation and beyond, so other writers of color and ethnicities found encouragement.  Native American writers, Latinos, Asian-Americans, and others have enriched the American reading communities with poignant, elegant works which celebrate the country's unique diversity.
