Welcome to English 2328: American Literature
Survey, a second-year literature course offered through the Dallas
County Community College District. A survey course in significant
American literature dating from the middle of the 19th century to the present,
readings for this course reflect the great themes of human struggle, the
creative flight of the imagination, and the deep, abiding faiths of major
voices of American men and women--people of all ethnic and racial backgrounds,
and their eloquent gifts of the word.
.
English 2328 is a course in reflection
and critical thinking. You will be both challenged and disturbed
by some of the literature in this course, for some works will not always
articulate your own experiences and values. At the same time, other
selections may well illuminate and complement some of your deepest assumptions
and convictions. All this to say, the readings in this course court
insight and provoke change.
