| The title
section of the
"Dunlap" printed series of the "Declaration of Independence," the
printing
committee set to type perhaps as many as 80 copies on the night of July
5 for immediate distribution throughout the colonies. John Dunlap was
the
Congressional printer. One of 25 known copies still in existence sold
in
July, 2000, for $7.4 million dollars. The Dallas Public Library
displays
(on the 7th floor) perhaps the finest known copy from among the 25
originals. |
