| Hello, students!
. . I am Dr. Geoffrey Grimes, your instructor for our online course. English 2326 represents the thirteenth online course that I have developed for distance learning students in composition, technical writing, critical thinking, and literature. Our time together finds me in my 35th and 36th years of college teaching. Coming from a traditional college and university learning environment, nevertheless, I have always been interested in addressing various student learning styles, student academic needs, and the various means by which to serve them. The development of distance education opportunities, made possible through evolving technologies, are only the latest mechanisms for delivering quality education--but mechanisms only! What counts is still the quality of the relationship that exists between the student, the teacher/facilitator, and the content/learning. . I am committed to your learning and have invested more than two years in the development of this particular course. You will notice, probably, as you move through it, I will be adding new materials and resources in what is an ever-evolving educational forum. Watch the message board where I will post, from time to time, announcements that will direct you to new opportunities for growth and development. . I look forward to working with you this semester. You can reach me or leave a message at my office voice mail service at (214) 860-8747. I attend my messages hourly and will get back to you as quickly as possible. You can also reach me by email at ggrimes@dcccd.edu. . Pace yourself through the readings. Make sure that you follow closely the schedule posted in the syllabus. Turn in your essays or other learning work in a timely fashion. If you do that, you should have a most rewarding experience in our course together. .
