In this unit you will learn how to write an analytical essay about a work of short fiction.  The unit includes the text of the short story, reading strategies for the study of fiction, and instructions for writing about literature.  It also includes contextual--that is, background--information about the short story that you may reference in the development of your literary analysis.  You must complete this exercise before you will be eligible to enroll in the course.  See the note to prospective students for submission instructions.
