Unit 5: Process Analysis

Process analysis responds to the critical question "how?" "How does something work?"  "How do you make it?"  "How did it happen in the past?" "How do they do it over there?"  "How can I repair this?"

This unit introduces two primary modes of development: Directional Process Analysis and Informational Process Analysis.  Directional Process Analysis is a set of directions.  Paragraph by paragraph, the reader is performing one or more actions, each anticipating the successful completion of the process.  Informational Process Analysis discusses a process for which there are no steps to be taken or, in many cases, even possible actions required on the part of the reader.
