I am honored that you have selected Mountain View College of the Dallas County Community College District and that you have enrolled for freshman English in one of my courses.

By entering the Dallas County Community College District Writing Program, you have dedicated yourself to expanding your critical reading, thinking, and writing skills. You have committed yourself to a regimen of study and exercise that will increase your communications skills and ability to analyze both student and professional writing. Your completion of this course will enhance your confidence and success as a writer.

As you begin your work as a freshman writing student, I am in my 41st year of college teaching.  What follows in this on-line course guide represents a culmination of forty years of continued development and revision, the latest completed in the spring of 2006. I look forward to your growth as a writer, but I also look forward to your contributions to the improvement of this course and its related materials.
